After almost 3 years in the business of children fashion I have met an important amount of parents, bumps and babies who are now preschoolers!
In this time I have realized some parents really love dressing their kids and take it very seriously, as some others find it is a necessary thing to do and try to make it as practical as possible. I have to admit that I do share a bit of both kinds. I love dressing up my daughter in fun, little outfits and I don't miss the chances as I know she won't let me do choose her outlooks forever. And there are this other days when we need quick, practical and basic items to move on.
Since I have received many enquiries on how to style little girls I have decided to write down this general tips I always give and publish it. Hope it inspires some moments in dressing your baby girls.
1. Bigger better than Smaller.
If you hesitate when purchasing the size, always go for the bigger from those you are considering. Babies grow fast and some dresses can become tops in the future, for example.
2. Keep in mind you baby's body.
As some babies develop super cute chunky legs, others (like mine) have skinny "chicken" legs. Same as with adults, you want to now what kind of garments fit better in your baby's body.
3. Be creative and open minded.
There are pink lovers, blue lovers, more traditional or modern styles lovers. There are parents who have very clear how they like their kids to be dressed. My suggestion is the opposite, you might be gratefully surprised when you see your little one on one of this looks, or colors you thought before you didn't like. Play with different options and patterns to discover new ways to dress your little ones.
4. Leave pajamas at home.
Cotton pajamas are a must in all babies wardrobe but again, same as adults, babies should be dressed for going out.
5. Let babies look like babies.
I have seen little things as pure as a baby wearing white or light colors. Some shrunk down version of adult clothes can be cute on a toddler, maybe. But same as I don't wear the same clothes now as I used to wear as a teenager, children, specially babies deserve their time to look as cute as possible!
